Having 30 years of experience in the Banking Sector, Mr. George Taniskidis holds the position of Optima bank’s Chairman.

 

He commenced his career as an associate attorney with the law firm of Rogers & Wells in New York. Upon his return to Greece, he joined Motor Oil Hellas.

 

His banking career commenced in 1990, in Xiosbank, as Head of the Consumer Business Group and Branch Network. Upon Xiosbank’s acquisition by Piraeus Bank, Mr. Taniskidis was appointed General Manager and served on the Strategic Planning Committee.

 

From 2002 until June 2010, as Chairman and Managing Director of Millennium Bank Greece, Mr. Taniskidis led the Bank from concept to fruition. It has to be stated that Millennium Bank achieved its goals much earlier than expected.

 

In the same period he led the acquisition of a banking institution in Turkey which was then renamed to Millennium Bank Turkey. He subsequently served as Member of its Board of Directors.

 

From 2003 to 2005, he was a Member of the Board of Directors of Visa International Europe.

 

Today he serves as Member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Banks Association.

 

He played a pivotal role in the acquisition of Marfin Bank Romania (currently VISTA BANK). He also envisaged the opportunity to create a bank without legacies in Greece. He pursued this goal fervently and finally Investment Bank of Greece (currently Optima bank) was acquired. Optima bank completed with great success an 80 million € capital increase earlier this year in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

 

Mr. Taniskidis holds a Law degree from the University of Athens Law School, having graduated first in his class and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Mr. Ventouris began his banking career as a financial analyst intern at Citibank. He joined Dorian Bank in 1990, where he rose to the position of Deputy Head of Corporate Banking.

 

In 2000 he joined EFG Finance, the investment banking subsidiary of EUROBANK, where he assumed the position of the Director of the Debt Capital Markets and Loan Syndications division. Under his management, EFG became the leader in the Greek debt market arranging and successfully initiating more than 100 syndicated loans and bonds in the domestic and regional markets.

 

In late 2005 he joined Millennium Bank as Deputy General Manager with the mandate to launch and grow the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) sector. Within two and half years the CIB sector managed a high quality loan portfolio of €1,5bn of excellent quality; according to the Dec. 2012 BlackRock report on the Recapitalization and Restructuring of the Greek banking Sector, this portfolio had the lowest percentage of credit loss  projections in the Greek market.
Mr. Ventouris joined Core Capital Partners as a partner in March 2011.

 

Mr. Ventouris holds a B.S. degree in Economics from the Athens School of Economics and Business Science and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Paschos began his career at Millennium Bank in 2008, as an analyst in the corporate & investment banking division. He was promoted to Junior Account Officer in 2012 and thereafter worked for Bank’s Project Finance desk, where he gained exposure to a number of industries and was recognized as one of the Bank’s top performers. Following Millennium Bank’s acquisition by Piraeus Bank in 2013, he worked in the Corporate and Shipping Recovery department, where he was responsible for the debt restructuring of several project finance initiatives, focusing in the identification, examination & evaluation of alternative solutions and business restructuring strategies to improve the bank’s position. His portfolio included exposures mainly to Renewable Energy & Real Estate.

 

He joined the team of Core Capital Partners in April 2015. He focuses in M&A’s, divestitures, balance sheet optimization, debt restructuring and capital raising from public and private sources.

 

Mr. Paschos holds a B.S. degree in Accounting & Finance from Athens University of Economics & Business and an M.S. in Financial Analysis from the University of Piraeus.
